2013 Citroen C5 and Citroen C5 Saloon Review

You always expect an outstanding ride from 2013 Citroen C5, and the Citroen C5 Saloon delivers this with a choice of two sophisticated suspensions. The core system is a highly engineered front double wishbone and multi-link rear suspension it’s a set-up that’s been specially tuned to complement the Citroen C5’s dynamic looks with an equally dynamic drive, without compromising comfort. Of course, if you really want to experience something unique, you can opt for the Hydractive 3+ suspension, our most advanced system to date. This advanced technology offers a whole new standard of luxurious driving, or at a touch of the ‘sport mode’ button, the ultimate in driving excitement. Hydractive 3+ also has Citroën’s trademark self levelling feature that guarantees a constant ride height regardless of load or number of passengers particularly useful for the Tourer. The ingenuity does not end there. The suspension constantly monitors speed and road conditions, lowering the car at 70mph to optimise stability and fuel economy. So whatever you’re looking for supreme comfort, an exhilarating performance or unrivalled load-carrying ability the 2013 Citroen C5 has some truly inspiring answers.

You can see it’s a driver’s car the moment you lay eyes on it. But if you need any further proof of the Citroen C5’s motoring credentials, look no further than the range-topping V6, which delivers a potent 240hp. This high performance engine turns the 2013 Citroen C5 into one of the most exhilarating executive vehicles on the road. And the Citroen C5 offers as much versatility as it does power, with a selection of one petrol and four diesel engines to match the level of pleasure and efficiency you’re looking for. There’s even a choice of automatic and manual gearboxes to put that final performance decision firmly in the palm of your hand.

The Citroen eTouch Emergency and Assistance System on Exclusive models is a bold step
forward in security at the press of a button. Or two. In the event of an accident or sudden health problem, one push of the ‘SOS’ button will instantly contact the emergency services. If there’s a more serious incident, SOS activates automatically. After a breakdown, one push on the ‘chevron’ button will alert Citroën Assistance, sending both location details and an initial fault report. Further innovations include Eco Driving and an on-line maintenance guide which help optimise driving style for efficiency and monitor maintenance needs or possible problems, through a personal web account at My CITROËN. To make your night drives even more pleasant, all Citroen C5 models are equipped with the static Adaptive Front-lighting System (AFS), which boosts lighting functionality to give you a clearer view of the road, wherever it takes you. On Exclusive models, you can opt for Xenon Dual-Function Directional headlamps. With dynamic AFS, it follows the car’s steering, greatly enhancing visibility on corners and at junctions.

A clean, efficient driving experience is at the heart of the Citroen brand. Our cars are designed to the highest environmental standards and fuel-efficiency is a major priority for our engineers. The Citroën C5 takes this even further, ensuring optimised CO2 levels by cutting pollutant emissions with its electronically controlled high pressure direct injection diesel engines, as well as its multi-valve petrol engines. With a reduction in rolling resistance of 20%, Michelin’s Energy Saver tyres, fitted on HDi 110 manual VTR+ NAV models, reduce the amount of energy needed to propel the car along the road which results in a reduction in the fuel consumption. This is achieved with no loss of grip or stability, with shorter stopping distances in wet conditions. The tyre’s innovative architecture generates fuel savings of nearly 0.5 litres per 100km (in combined cycle), resulting in a reduction in CO2 emissions of nearly 19g/km and around one tonne less CO2 over the entire life of a Citroën C5.

2013 Citroen C5 Review

15 years of development have gone into our HDi direct injection engines, making them refined and frugal. In combination with a beautifully simple Stop & Start system and sophisticated EGS gearbox, the e-HDi 110 Airdream EGS6 can achieve 62.8mpg and CO2 emissions of only 117g/km. The EGS gearbox is an advanced transmission that lets you select either effortless full automatic shifts, or manual changes via the steering wheel mounted paddles. It’s part of what makes Citroën efficient engineering unique. Stop & Start puts the engine into idle mode as you decelerate and stops altogether as you come to a halt. The moment you take your foot off the brake, it restarts silently and without vibration. It helps to reduce CO2 by about 5g/km and
fuel consumption by 15% in the city.

2013 Citroen C5 Saloon

Safety is not optional on the Citron C5, with a lengthy standard of accident-avoiding technology putting you in control. It has an advanced braking system with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Emergency Braking Assistance (EBA), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) so you can stay on guard in all conditions. And if you do find yourself in an unexpectedly hairy situation, you can rely on sophisticated added safety measures such as traction control and hazard warning lights activated automatically when the ABS operates. With a reinforced outer shell, the Citroën C5 has been designed for endurance as well as performance. The front end features upper and lower energy absorbers which provide cushioning on impact, while the cabin structure is also reinforced to create a strong passenger survival cell. In the Citroën C5, you and your passengers are obsessively protected from every direction with up to nine airbags cushioning against front, side and head impact. In the passenger seat, there’s optional airbag de-activation and importantly for the driver, not only does the steering column retract by 65mm, but thanks to the fixed-centred controls steering wheel, your airbag always deploys at the safest possible angle.

Even when it’s stopped, the Citroen C5 doesn’t sleep. It’s constantly on alert for dangerous situations, with anti-theft alarm and deadlocks fitted as standard. Automatic re-locking after
30 seconds gives you extra peace of mind, and with protective laminated side windows fitted on Exclusive models to guard against intruders, the Citroen C5 is reassuringly defended.

passenger comfort and load-carrying. In essence, it’s a spacious vehicle packed with many more little luxuries.

2012 Citroen C5 Saloon Review

Drive comfort is at the heart of the Citroen C5 and it has numerous advanced soundproofing features to wrap you in your own haven of tranquillity. With triple door seals, reinforced roof lining and an acoustic windscreen, the Citroën C5’s insulating innovations exceed all expectations for an executive saloon. On Exclusive models, you even enjoy laminated side windows for total isolation from the outside world. At the heart of the Citroen C5’s technology
revolution is the new fixed-centred controls steering wheel. Needless to say, it does so much more than turn the wheels  in fact it turns your car into a high tech tool, adjustable at the soft touch of a button. From activating the speed limiter and cruise control to changing songs or the central information display, you have everything you need for the drive, right at your fingertips.

So much more than navigation, the optional Navi Drive system on Exclusive models is a powerful hub of information, communication and even entertainment. It gives you GPS navigation, live traffic updates and a Bluetooth system with USB socket. NaviDrive also features a top of the range audio system with a 10GB hard disc with jukebox function so you can drive for days
without having to push a button. It even has European mapping, which makes crossing borders as seamless as switching tracks. The MyWay colour satellite navigation system standard on VTR+ NAV models, has SD card integrated European mapping which brings you live traffic information, voice guidance and graphics in 2D or aerial perspective. It also features a Bluetooth system. Cutting edge entertainment, navigation and communication are all in the mix.

2013 Citroen C4 Picasso Intelligent System

Driving and other important information appears on the bold, dashboard centre screen. Different information is instantly selectable, and light intensity can be adapted to suit all conditions. Clarity is uncompromised, 24 hours a day. The 2013 Citroen C4 Picasso and 2013 Citroen Grand C4 Picasso ingenious ventilation controls distribute air so effectively through the cabin that the driver and front passenger can adjust their own air conditioning and ideal temperature on VTR and VTR+ models. Additionally, on Exclusive models, the exact temperature can be set on each side of the dashboard whilst row 2 passengers can adjust the airflow. For a unique luxury touch, switch on the air freshener on Exclusive models, which will wash the cabin in a specially developed invigorating fragrance. Innovative thinking surrounds everyone in the bright, spacious cabin. The glazed area is huge, allowing the light to flood in through the panoramic windscreen and wide lateral windows. This also means added security as you enjoy unparalleled 360° visibility.

Optional on Exclusive models, the interior mood lighting creates a warm, welcoming atmosphere throughout. Soft, diffuse light glows from guides under the central facia strip, the door panels and the ceiling, and it’s totally adjustable using a translucent button on the dashboard. There are also small LEDs set into the internal door handles and front roof panel. The light thinking goes further. On VTR+ and Exclusive stylish LEDs above the front fog lights help lead the way. On the same models there is a rechargeable torch in the boot, which also acts as a boot light when in place. Remove it from the clip and you have a ready to use torch  with up to 40 minutes of power it’s typical of the useful, original bright ideas packed into every Citroen C4 Picasso and 2013 Grand C4 Picasso. Mounted in the front seat backs are dedicated reading lights on Exclusive models only, designed to illuminate the fold down tables. It means that passengers can comfortably read without disturbing the driver or anyone else.

2013 Citroen Grand C4 Picasso

From the very start, Citroen C4 Picasso and Grand C4 Picasso have been designed to make a minimal impact on the environment. Remarkable aerodynamics and carefully chosen light materials, such as aluminium for the bonnet and roof and magnesium for seat frames, keep weight and fuel consumption right down. The amazing Electronic Gearbox System (EGS) is essentially two gearboxes in one, offering the choice between rapid fingertip manual changes or a smooth automatic, but its sophistication also cuts the amount of CO2 produced, easily beating ordinary manuals. Choose the HDi 110 manual, the e-HDi 110 Airdream EGS6 or the punchy. HDi 150, with 6-speed EGS or manual, and a fine balance of economy, refinement and flexible performance is assured, but both go further. They are fitted with the Diesel Particulate Filter System which uses advanced anti-pollution technology to remove harmful carbon particles from
the exhaust gases, before they reach the great outdoors.

All Citroen C4 Picasso are inherently safe, thanks to their sophisticated suspension design,
but the Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) adds a further level of security. By monitoring
progress through a bend, it senses whether oversteer or understeer is developing, modifying
engine torque and applying a precise measure of braking for ultimate stability and control. Standard ABS electronically regulates braking to avoid locking wheels, so the driver can still
safely steer in an emergency. Connected to the ABS, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD)
ensures that braking pressure is evenly applied to all wheels so that should the need arise, all
braking power can effectively be used. In an emergency there is also Emergency Braking
Assistance (EBA). This technology automatically maximises braking effort when it detects strong input. This compensates for the fact that many people don’t brake enough under pressure and it reduces stopping distances.

Citroen’s unique new Intelligent Traction Control System, standard on Citroën C4 Picasso and Grand C4 Picasso manual and EGS models, helps you get safely where you need to go. It means
even more dynamic road handling, active safety on sliding surfaces and impeccable steering. The Intelligent Traction Control System regulates each driving wheel independently in snow, ice, and rain giving the Citroën C4 Picasso and Citroen Grand C4 Picasso improved traction in difficult conditions. Parking shouldn’t add to the burden of a busy day. Optional front parking sensors on Exclusive models and standard rear parking sensors on VTR+ and Exclusive enable you to manoeuvre safely and quickly into the tightest spots, fully aware of hidden obstacles.

2013 CitroEn C-Zero New Speed Review

The New 2013 CitroEn C-Zero is a car engineered for people who value pioneering technology, innovative design and environmental responsibility. It’s also a car with plenty of style, practicality and essential equipment the only thing missing is CO2. Less is definitely more in the Citroen C-Zero being 100% electric, it has no need for a noisy conventional engine, transmission or fuel tank all this adds up to zero CO2 emissions. Naturally there’s also room for all the technology that looks after you, such as ABS with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (ebd), Electronic Stability Programme (esp) and a full quota of airbags. This is the city car reborn, but it’s arrived with everything you and your passengers need.

With a range of 93 miles, you’ve got plenty of time between charges, especially as research shows that average urban journeys are only 23 miles. A maximum speed of 80 mph means Citroen C-Zero is quite happy to travel further when you want to. Charging 2013 Citroen C-Zero couldn’t be easier. A full charge takes approximately seven hours, so can be done overnight or while parked during work. Alternatively, there is a quick charge system, which enables 80% of CitroEn C-Zero’s battery to be charged in just half an hour. CitroEn can give support and advice on getting connected to the network of charge points along with the EV website which shows all charging points available in the UK. In the next 12 months a whole new system of charge points is planned, which will make running Citroën C-Zero second nature.

2013 CitrEn C-Zero

Euro NCAP is informed that the Citroen C-Zero is structurally identical to the Mitsubishi i-MiEV and has the same interior fittings and levels of safety equipment. Accordingly, Euro NCAP believes that the star rating of the i-MiEV can also be applied to the Citroen C-Zero.

Inspection of the car after the frontal impact showed that several structures had reached the limit of their load-bearing capacity. The passenger compartment was judged to be unstable as the vehicle might not be able to withstand an impact at a higher speed. As a consequence, the score for the driver's chest was penalised and protection of this body region was rated as marginal. Most of the floor in the driver’s footwell was heavily distorted and this too was penalised, leading to a marginal rating for protection of the driver's feet and ankles.

2013 CitrEn C-Zero Review

Structures in the dashboard posed a risk of injury to the knees and femurs of both the driver and passenger. In the side barrier impact, the driver's door opened and the car was penalised, although dummy readings showed protection was at least adequate. However, in the more severe side pole test, dummy readings of rib compression indicated poor protection of the chest. Protection against whiplash injury in the event of a rear collision was good. No problems were experienced with the high voltage electrical system which powers the vehicle: the battery was properly isolated from the bodyshell and was not damaged during the tests.

Electronic stability control is standard equipment on the C-Zero, together with a seatbelt reminder system for the front and rear seats. The bumper provided good protection and scored maximum points in Euro NCAP's tests. The front edge of the bonnet scored no points, offering poor protection to pedestrians' legs. The bonnet provided predominantly poor protection in those areas likely to be struck by the head of a child. However, the bonnet provided good protection in most of the areas where an adult's head would strike.

Based on dummy readings, the car was awarded maximum points for its protection of the 3 year dummy in the dynamic tests. The passenger airbag can be disabled to allow a rearward facing child restraint to be used in that seating position. However, information provided to the driver regarding the status of the airbag is not sufficiently clear. A permanently attached label clearly warns of the dangers of using a rearward facing restraint in that seat without first disabling the airbag.

Citroen C-Metisse Concept New Realese 2012

The Citroen C-Metisse Concept cars of the naughties were perhaps the most original and otherworldly designs of the period. Long, wide and low, the sleek designs mixed undoubtable French style and flair with performance in cars that would look completely in place in Syd Mead’s Sentinel. First shown at the Paris Motor Show in September 2006 the Citroen C-Metisse gives 155 mph performance while returning 45 miles per gallon all while transporting four full size occupants in the lap of high-tech luxury. Entry for those four occupants is via a unique and practical gullwing door arrangement with the front pair swing up from the A-pillar and the rear swinging around and backward on a ram from the base of the C-pillar. With the doors open access to the four individual white leather seats becomes easy even though the car is only 1.24 metre high.

Power comes from a 208 bhp HDi V6 diesel engine driving the front wheels through a 6 speed transmission. The rear wheels get an electric motor inside, with the each motor supplying an additional 400 Nm of torque and 20 bhp to the diesel engine. The resulting unique four wheel drive system can deliver 0-62 mph in 6.2 seconds and accelerate from 50-75 mph in 4.2 seconds. A combination drivetrain and braking control unit automatically manages the drive configuration and transition from 2 to 4-wheel drive, as well as energy recovery and the recharging of batteries which automatically happens A carbon fibre body keeps the weight of the 4.74 metre car to just 1,400kg, including batteries.

2012 Citroen C1 Compac Car Review

2012 Citroen C1

Vital driving controls are grouped closely around the steering wheel for fingertip control, so the driver can concentrate on the main event driving. An amazingly tight turning circle and standard variable power assisted steering also makes the new 2012 Citroen C1 perfectly adapted to nipping about in the city, whilst the clear and bold speedometer really adds to the sense of fun. Elevated rounded headlamps make the Citroen C1 characterful face instantly recognisable, while the daytime-running LEDs, standard on VTR and VTR or optional on VT models, give a dazzlingly cool stare. Front fog lights, standard on VTR  and optional on VTR models, complete the refreshing, dynamic look. Let the new Citroen C1 talk to your phone or MP3 through this simple dashboard Bluetooth system and USB socket, standard on VTR or optional on VT and VTR, leaving you to concentrate on the road. Even the cabin’s air vents harmonise with new Citroen C1’s curvy themes nothing interrupts the flow!

The boot of the new 2012 Citroen C1 transforms from a useful 139 litres under the parcel shelf, right up to 751 litres with the rear seats folded down. This is still a capacious 712 litres on 3-door models. The large rear window is also a wide opening tailgate for optimum access. As you would expect, front electric windows are standard on VTR and VTR or optional on VT models for complete convenience. A CD Player is standard, and in addition you can plug your MP3 player into the front panel. Even the shape of the main air conditioning switch, standard on VTR and VTR models, echoes the dashboard design and the whole car’s vibrant persona. The new Citroen C1 has plenty of storage compartments spread between the dashboard, centre console and doors there are two situated immediately above and below the CD player for really easy access.

Despite its ingenious compactness, there is nothing minimal about Citroën C1’s safety features, with a massively strong passenger compartment and carefully engineered crumple zones, its entire structure is designed to protect. Powerful ABS and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Emergency Braking Assistance (EBA), as well as driver’s and front passenger’s airbag

2013 Citroen DS9 Power Concept

2013 Citroen DS9

Last month Citroen released the first teaser images of its new 2013 Citroen DS9 flagship, and now the French carmaker has revealed the car in all its glory ahead of its world debut at next week’s Beijing motor show. The unveiling of the Citroen DS9 is timely as it coincides with the launch of the Citroen DS3, Citroen Citroen DS4 and Citroen DS5 models in the burgeoning Chinese market. The Citroen DS range has already racked up more than 200,000 sales in its primary (mainly European) markets, and Citroen aims to build on this volume by rolling out these models in emerging markets such as Russia, Brazil and China during the course of this year.

Getting back to the 2012 Citroen DS9 Concept, it measures 4930mm from bumper to bumper and 1940mm across the bows (around 30mm longer and 40mm wider than a Holden Commodore), so it’s clearly no minnow. Its 3000mm wheelbase also eclipses that of the Commodore by around 85mm. However, the Citroen’s size is partially disguised by the fact that it stands just 1270mm tall. Of course this is just a concept car, so it’s reasonable to expect the eventual production model will be far less radical in execution. Also likely to get the flick are the huge 21-inch ‘turbine’ rims that help optimise airflow around the flanks.

For what it’s worth, the Numéro 9’s styling is said to provide clues to the design theme that will grace the next three DS line models a C segment premium sedan, an SUV and a D-segment executive saloon. Whether or not the so-called ‘shooting brake’ proportions of the Citroen DS9 carries through to any of the production models remains to be seen. Nestled under the DS9’s long snout is a cutting-edge hybrid drivetrain that comprises a 1.6-litre turbo petrol engine with 165kW/275Nm, mated to a rear-axle electric motor with 52kW and 200Nm. According to Citroen, the electric motor is powered by lithium -ion batteries that can be recharged in just 3½ hours from a normal domestic socket, and the vehicle allegedly has a range of 50km in all-electric ZEV (Zero Emission Vehicle) mode.

However, when the throttle is flattened, a ‘boost’ function combines the power of the combustion engine and electric motor to enable a 5.4sec 0-100km/h split, while v-max is quoted at 244km/h. What’s more, in difficult conditions, such as driving up a sloping, snow-covered road, the driver can manually select 4WD mode. Citroen claims the all-paw system and hydraulic active suspension then deliver increased traction to boost safety.

With the 2013 Citroen C3, the technology is as sophisticated as it is simple to use: now even easier to drive, making the experience even more enjoyable! The NaviDrive colour screen system pinpoints your car's exact position and provides the optimum itinerary to reach your destination (option only). With its controls fitted behind the steering wheel, all functions of the RDS stereo radio/CD are easily accessible without your eyes ever having to leave the road. The Citroen C3 multi-function on-board trip computer allows you to select the information you wish to display on the screen: current fuel consumption, average fuel consumption and speed, distance travelled or distance remaining. Making your parking manoeuvres so much easier, four sensors are located at the rear of the Citroen C3.

To make your on-board life easier, the Citroen C3 offers handy and ingenious storage spaces, like the pockets on the back of the front seats (depending on model). An easily accessible drawer under each front seat is ideal for tucking away the likes of CDs, maps, guides and books (excluding L, Desire and Stop and Start models on passager side). To keep everything you need conveniently close to hand, front and rear doors are equipped with large capacity storage bins. With the Moduboard shelving you can efficiently compartmentalise the boot to cater for various types of luggage (Exclusive models).

your passengers. ESP (Electronic Stability Program) monitorsthe C3's progress and, if oversteer  or understeer is detected, automatically modifies the engine's torque and applies one or more of the brakes to maintain stability and control. ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) regulates the braking pressure to prevent the wheels locking, while EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution) adjusts the braking pressure between each wheel, to give more effective braking efficiency in all circumstances. EBA (Emergency Braking Assistance) improves the braking pressure instantaneously when emergency braking occurs and automatically controls the illumination of hazard warning lights to alert other road users.

The Citroën C3 range of engines has been designed to reduce environmental impact. All petrol and diesel engines meet the Euro IV emission standard regulations. With optimum power consumption in town or on the motorway, the 1.6HDi 110hp diesel engine is extremely responsive and dynamic whilst preserving the environment thanks to its Particulate Filter (DPFS*). This eliminates 'black smoke' emissions by burning off particulates. Available on 1.4i 16V, the Stop & Start technology cleverly places the engine in standby when the vehicle is stopped for as long as the brake pedal is pressed, without affecting other functions (radio, air conditioning etc.). When the brake pedal is released, the engine automatically starts up again. So polluting emissions and fuel consumption are reduced and a calming silence prevails.

The new 2013 Citroen C4 goes even further in terms of comfort with the availability of a scented air freshenerL, styled to match the dashboard design. This scented air freshener contributes perfectly to the relaxed on-board atmosphere. The translucent instrument display in the centre of the dashboard displays information on a strip that lets the light through. The display contrast adjusts automatically to ambient light conditions to ensure a clear read out at all times. Thanks to specially designed light sensors the Citroen C4's electrochrome rear-view mirrorL darkens automatically to reduce the risk of dazzling from the headlights of cars behind. Whether manual or automatic, the air conditioning systemL has an advanced filter, and a recycling air feature controlled electronically either from the steering wheelL or the central fascia. On the automatic version dual-zone adjustment means the front passenger can have their own temperature setting.

The 2013 Citroen C4 goes even further in terms of comfort with the availability of a scented air freshenerL, styled to match the dashboard design. This scented air freshener contributes perfectly to the relaxed on-board atmosphere. The wide range of safety features on the Citroen C4 will impress you right from the start. These advanced safety features include state of the art Xenon dual function directional headlampsL. In addition, a combination of active safety features coupled with the exemplary roadholding inherent in Citroen suspension technology, guarantees the best possible control of the car in all driving conditions, even the most hazardous.

Research shows that many drivers fail to brake with full force in an emergency. Emergency Braking Assistance (EBA) compensates for this by automatically maximising application of the brakes when strong braking is initially detected. Additional reassurance comes from the Electronic Stability Programme (ESP)L, which monitors the car’s progress through a bend and, if oversteer or understeer is detected, automatically modifies the engine’s torque and applies one or more of the brakes to maintain stability and control. The advanced Xenon dual function directional headlampsL, which work on both dipped and full beam, give a wide field of vision and follow the turn of the steering wheel. This increases visibility in the potentially dangerous dark areas on bends.

Automatic illumination of headlampsL as soon as the light fades or if it rains. Automatic rain-sensitive windscreen wipersL which adapt the wiping speed to the intensity of the rain. The Citroen C4's tyre pressure monitorL regularly checks the pressure of each tyre and warns the driver of any problem both visually and by sound a very important safety feature. If you decelerate rapidly, the hazard warning lights come on automatically to warn drivers behind you; they go off when you accelerate again or you can switch them off manually.

On the motorway, or other major roads at speeds above 50mph, the LDWSL  detects any crossing of a white line by means of infrared sensors built into the front of the vehicle and directed towards the ground. If the vehicle drifts outside its lane without an indicator being on, the driver is warned by one of the vibrating devices built into the left and right sides of the seat. The vibrations are set off on the side corresponding to the direction of drift. In this way the driver can immediately take the necessary corrective action.

The side window airbags built into the roof are activated in the event of a side impact to protect the heads of front and rear passengers. The front airbags are adaptive, ie. the power and speed of inflation of each airbag is controlled according to the severity of the impact. Moreover, thanks to the fixed centred controls steering wheel, the driver’s airbag always deploys at the right angle. Lateral airbags are built into the front seats and are activated in the event of a side impact so as to move the occupant towards the middle of the passenger cell - away from the maximum impact zone - and thus reduce the effect of the impact.

The side windows of the Citroen C4 are made of laminated acoustic glassL for improved security and excellent sound insulation. The Citroen C4's five seats all have 3-point inertia reel seat-belts. There is a seatbelt ‘unfastened’ warning light for each one that comes up, on the translucent instrument display. The integral electrical child-safety systemL allows the opening controls for the rear doors and windows to be activated or deactivated from the driver's seat. The Citroen C4's high-frequency remote control plip can lock and deadlock all the vehicle's doors. It also activates the volumetric (interior surveillance) and perimetric (door and window surveillance) alarmL. A ‘Guide me home’ function provides temporary illumination of the headlamps, eg. when parking in dark places.

Best of both worlds THE NEW EGS GEAR BOX The new Electronic Gearbox System (E.G.S) brings two gearboxes together into one, to give the best of both worlds. It gives a fast and precise manual gearbox controlled by paddles or a gear lever alongside a smooth and efficient
automatic transmission. The E.G.S gearbox has been developed as a completely new gearbox, cleverly designed to deliver the key benefits of a quick and smooth transmission, fuel efficiency and a reduction in emissions. There is a choice of 6 petrol versions and 5 diesel:

• The 90hp 1.4i petrol engine or 1.6HDi 92hp diesel for comfort and low fuel consumption in town use.

• The 110hp 1.6i petrol (manual or automatic) and 1.6HDi 110hp diesel, (manual or E.G.S), engines
for an optimum power/fuel consumption ratio, both in town and on the open road.

• The 143hp 2.0i petrol, 143hp 2.0i petrol automatic or 138hp 2.0HDi diesel, (manual or automatic)
engines where the priority is torque and acceleration over long distances. In particular, the
2.0HDi 138hp diesel engine performs especially well even in low gear and its 6-speed manual gearbox allows you to enjoy the dynamism of its 138 horse-power to the full. The gear ratios are near perfect and give a very precise drive with 100% effective immediate acceleration and power always in reserve. This remarkable flexibility gives you a hugely pleasurable yet comfortable
drive which will satisfy both the most demanding car lover and the driver looking primarily for calmness and safety in all conditions. And finally the dynamism of the 180hp 2.0i petrol engine provides exceptional performance for the sportier driver.

Elegant, seductive, high performing yes, but the Citroen C4 is also, and perhaps above all, practical and pleasant to be in. Its living space has been specially designed to offer the very best in travelling comfort. The remarkable amount of legroom for rear passengers being a particular feature, even when the front seats are pushed back as far as they will go. There is a huge number of storage spaces no less than 22L of them inside the car, plus a large boot which can be “compartmentalised”L Life on-board in to 4 sections.

2012 Citroen C4 Review

With its ‘boomerang’ front headlamps, its chevrons built into the chrome grille and its precisely
designed shape giving optimum aerodynamics, it is hard to resist the unique charms of the 2012 Citroën C4, whether it's a Hatchback or a Coupé. Compact and low to the ground, the shape of the Citroën C4 suggests a real aura of dynamism and sportiness. With its high, protective ring-of-steel and slim, beautiful profile, the Citroën C4 Hatchback is as comfortable as it is safe. From the minute you see it, you just want to take off in it.

A Citroën innovation: the centre of the 2012 Citroen C4 steering wheel remains fixed at all times. The controls and lights built into the centre never move, however much the steering wheel is turned. The fixed centred controls allow access to all the different functions at any given moment without your hands leaving the steering wheel or your eyes leaving the road a quite unique comfort and safety feature. The on-board trip computer constantly keeps track of all the driver-useful information (range, distance travelled, fuel consumption and average and current speed…) and if necessary displays warning messages. Personalised configuration feature shown below.

The built-in telematics and navigation system with a large 16/9 colour screenL is available as an option. As well as controlling the RDS stereo radio/CD player and the integral hands-free GSM telephoneL, the 2012 Citroen C4's voice-recognition and voice-synthesis NaviDriveL system uses GPS technology to pinpoint the location of the car at any given moment and by using the map CD-ROM, you can be sure of taking the best route. The speed limiter allows you to set a maximum speed whenever you wish. A firm ‘kick-down’ on the accelerator is all that's needed to cancel this function temporarily and allow you to accelerate. As soon as the speed of the car falls back below the speed originally set, the limiter cuts back in again automatically. The speed regulator (cruise control) allows you to maintain a desired speed without using the accelerator. However, the speed can be increased or decreased and cancelled or reinstated at any time by using either the pedals or the fixed centred controls on the steering wheel.

The Citroën C4's stereo radio/CD player is built into the centre of the dashboard and has an off-set display so that it is visible from every seat. The full range of Radio/Hi-fiL controls is also built into the steering wheel with fixed centred controls. To guarantee the very highest quality
sound, Citroën and JBL have worked together to create an innovative speaker lay-out especially for the Citroën C4. The JBLHi-fi systemL in the C4 gives listeners a made-to-measure sound performance specially designed for the C4's cabin. The sub-wooferL fitted in the boot gives an exceptional depth and quality of sound. On the move the volume of the RDS stereo Radio/CD player adjusts itself automatically as a function of the car's speed to maintain ideal listening conditions.

2012 Citroen C4 Review

Practical and safe - the automatic airconditioning controlsL allow the driver and front passenger to regulate their own temperature setting. Thanks to its voice-recognition technology the ‘BlueTooth’L system allows you to use your own mobile telephone very easily and very safely (as long as it is Bluetooth compatible), because the car takes over the functions of the telephone. Note: This feature is not compatible with NaviDrive. To make hands-free callsL the driver
simply uses the controls on the base of the steering wheel. Communication takes place by means of a microphone built into the courtesy light console and the audio system, and calls can even be made by voice only using the voice-recognition featureL.

The Citroën C4 has been designed to offer the very best driving experience in all situations on the open road and in town, at high speed and when manoeuvring, whether it's raining, windy
or snowing…The ergonomics of the equipment, such as the centred translucent instrument display, and the intelligence of the driving-assistance functions, such as the variable power-assisted steering, give you Exceptional a serene, comfortable drive.

and DSport and optional on DSign models. For further, pinpoint accuracy, front parking sensors are standard on DSport and optional on DStyle models.

When you see what looks like a space with your name on it, the parking space ‘gap’ measurement system standard on DSport and optional on DStyle models will measure it and
let you know if there’s room it takes the guesswork and the hassle out of urban parking. New Citroën DS4 has intelligent traction control that continuously monitors grip levels at each driven wheel. If it detects slip, it fine-tunes power delivery to ensure complete stability. Integrated with this system is an automatic electric parking brake, standard on DStyle (excluding THP 160 6 speed automatic) and DSport models. Also the Hill Start Assist, standard on all models, holds you securely in place on steep inclines without rolling backwards.

The e-HDi 110 Airdream EGS6 engine is capable of 64.2 mpg and CO2 emissions of just 114g/km combined with the EGS gearbox. It has a reversible starter-alternator that works in tandem with an e-booster to provide a seamless Stop & Start function. Going further than other similar systems, the e-HDi’s Stop & Start puts the engine into idle mode while decelerating before coming to a complete standstill. This reduces consumption by 15% in urban driving. Citroën’s HDi diesel engines operate with the fuel under extremely high pressure, enabling microscopically precise injection control. With this level of management it’s possible to inject at different times during the same engine stroke allowing total control over the combustion process. This has allowed our engineers to reduce carbon monoxide emissions by 40%, unburned hydrocarbons by 50% and engine particulates by 60%. Fuel consumption is 20% lower than a prechamber diesel engine, resulting in an equivalent reduction in CO2 emissions.
