2013 BMW X6 and 2012 BMW X6 Active Hybrid Concept

The new 2013 BMW X6 M is a very special high-performance automobile. It combines the raised seating position of a 2012 BMW X6 model with the outstanding power and dynamics of a BMW M sports car. Fully painted front, rear and side surfaces create a strong visual link to the road, so the car seems to hug the tarmac even more closely than its 10 mm lower stance would already suggest. It’s styling that clearly conveys exceptional on-road qualities.

The steeply raked front windscreen  in fl uid interplay with the sharply sloping roofl ine creates a coupé-like appearance. The swage line rises towards the rear and, together with the sill line that runs parallel to the road surface, creates a dynamic wedge shape. This lends the 2013 BMW X6 M a sporty, agile stance despite its high rear . The M gill element  is a typical design feature of the BMW M models, integrating the side indicator and the M logo. 20-inch light-alloy rims with mixed tyres add striking highlights with their high-gloss fi nish and rim wells in a contrasting colour.

Comparison leaves no doubt: the 2013 BMW X6 M distinctly road-oriented. Features that provide off-road protection on BMW X models black plastic surfaces on the front apron, wheel arches and side sills are not to be found on the BMW X6 M and BMW X5 M. Instead, these vehicles come in all-over body colouring, enhancing their premium quality and accentuating their sporty on-road character.

he powerful, sporty design of the 2012 BMW X5 M conveys functionality and versatility in an exclusive form. Thanks to its more upright proportions (compared with the BMW X6 M), generous glazing and long roofl ine, the impressive versatility of the BMW X5 M is instantly recognisable. The vehicle body is painted all over, which also visually underscores the model’s perfectly resolved on-road characteristics. The independent design of rear displays hallmark horizontal lines that ensure an authoritative look and emphasise the width.

The front windscreen  is steeper than that of the 2012 BMW X6 M. The large rear window area and the upright D-pillars illustrate the considerable versatility of the interior. Many parallel lines lend the rear a calm visual aspect and emphasise the vehicle’s width. The rear apron and the twin tailpipes have a more discreet design compared with the BMW X6 M. The M gill element creates a powerful impression and also has an integrated side indicator function. The 20-inch light-alloy rims with mixed tyres feature the typical M V-spoke design adapted to the character of a Sports Activity Vehicle.

2013 BMW 7 Series High Performance Technology

Drivers not only appreciate the agile handling of the aluminium chassis with optional integral Active Steering but also the wide range of intelligent assistance systems such as Head-Up Display, BMW Night Vision with person recognition and Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go function. The generation of the 2013 BMW 7 Series Sedan As a rule a luxury-class sedan has reached the highest of all aims. However, there is one sedan that is the exception to this rule and which constantly creates new aims to set new standards: the BMW 7 Series Sedan. The twelve-cylinder 2013 BMW 760i and 2013 BMW 760Li models represent the top of the fifth generation BMW 7 Series. The BMW TwinPower Turbo V12 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.6 seconds.

The unique sound of the V8 engine in the 2013 BMW 750i/Li is instantly recognisable. The 2013 BMW 740i/Li and 2012 BMW 740d/Ld are classic straight six-cylinder petrol engines. Particularly efficient is the BMW 730d, without the feeling of any loss in power thanks to 540 Nm. The same applies to the long versions (for example, the BMW 730Ld) that, with 14 centimetres of increased legroom in the rear, make this chauffeur sedan the first choice of those who want to relax without compromising on dynamics.

The eight-cylinder power unit in the 2012 BMW 750i provides highest level power and performance while at the same time reducing both fuel consumption and emissions to an even lower level. The V8 with Twin Turbo technology offers maximum output of 300 kW/407 hp. Peak torque is 600 Nm maintained consistently between 1,750 and 4,500 rpm, and accelerating from a standstill to 100 km/h takes just 5.2 seconds. But what are mere numbers in comparison to the unique sound of a V8?

The straight six-cylinder petrol engine in the BMW 740i with an output of 240 kW/326 hp, the BMW straight six-cylinder engine is the most powerful ever. The power unit featured in the BMW 740i comes with the combination of Twin Turbo technology and High Precision Injection exclusive to BMW, offering unparalleled power and performance combined with truly impressive all-round economy. 5.9 seconds is all it takes to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h. Engine weight is also much lower, inter alia on account of the all-aluminium crankcase, which naturally benefits the agility of the entire car. Imposing at the front, powerful at the rear, the 2012 BMW 7 Series Sedan is a vehicle that exudes confidence. The large kidney grilles emphasize the new BMW 7 Series' imposing presence while the striking shoulder line extends uninterrupted from bonnet to boot, making the car seem longer. The door handles are integrated seamlessly into this shoulder line, creating an inimitable effect even at night.

The straight six-cylinder diesel engines in the 2012 BMW 730d, 730Ld and 740d. Sporty performance paired with maximum efficiency: the defining mark of the BMW 740d. An impressive output of 225 kW (306 hp) is delivered by the combination of one large and one small turbocharger, coupling powerful acceleration with heavy drive in the high rev range. With a combined fuel consumption of only 6.8 litres per 100 km and 540 Nm performance, the BMW 730d demonstrates its unique efficiency and confident power in every situation.

2012 BMW 7 Series Interior
The exterior of the 2013 BMW 7 Series is 14 centimetres longer than the short version - and all of this is used to increase space and comfort in the rear. The rear door is noticeably bigger, making it significantly easier to enter the vehicle. The interior is the most generously sized in the luxury sedan class, and the roofline and C-pillar have been redesigned to provide additional headroom, for a feeling of greater spaciousness.

The 8-speed automatic transmission Steptronic in the BMW 760i and 760Li. Only the tachometer will reveal how fast and seamlessly the new 8-speed automatic transmission Steptronic shifts gears. The additional gears reduce the engine's rev interval between shifts, so the transmission process is barely noticeable. The eighth gear reduces the number of revolutions at high speeds, tangibly increasing comfort while reducing fuel consumption and emissions.

The six-speed automatic transmission Steptronic in the BMW 7 Series Sedan. The perfectly-spaced gear ratios of the responsive six-speed automatic transmission Steptronic ensure that the vast power of the BMW 7 Series engine is transmitted to the drive wheels with maximum efficiency. A newly developed control shifts gears faster, and when the driver kicks down the accelerator, the automatic transmission will shift back immediately by up to four gears. Minimum converter slip and exact selection of gears increases spontaneity and efficiency and the gears can be shifted manually thanks to the electronic gear selector lever.

Thanks to their particle filter and exhaust-gas recirculation system, the BMW 7 Series Sedan diesel engines have no problems complying with strict EU5 requirements. In 2014, EU6 will mandate a further reduction in nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions, but the BMW 730d with BMW BluePerformance already meets these EU6 standards today. An oxidising converter collects nitrogen oxide emissions and breaks them down cyclically, unnoticed by the driver. The result: nitrogen and water, which occur naturally in the air we breathe.

High Precision Injection and Twin Turbo in the BMW 740i, 750i and 760i. Two milligrams of petrol – that's how precisely the High Precision Injection (HPI) controls the fuel-air mix. The right dosage of injected fuel is meticulously ensured by the piezo injectors, with only part of the combustion chamber being filled under lower partial loads. Thanks to the Twin Turbo, it is now possible for the straight six-cylinder engine to provide a supreme standard of power and performance previously only conceivable with far larger engines. Engine weight is also much lower, in part on account of the all-aluminium crankcase, which naturally benefits the agility of the entire car and offers more power on less fuel.

The interior of the 2012 BMW 7 Series Sedan is generous space, precise elegance and charming functionality form the character of the BMW 7 Series Sedan. The interior's finish, including a wide range of high-class materials and a handcrafted look, conveys a new interpretation of inviting modernity. A particularly eye-catching feature of the cockpit is the instrument cluster with black panel technology - when not in use, the display is matt black, and it comes to life in several stages when the ignition is started. High-tech, special ceramic material is also offered as an option on selected control elements and switches. The spaciousness offered by the BMW 7 Series Sedan long version is as exclusive and individual as its passengers. The extra 14 centimetres is used to increase legroom while the roofline has been redesigned to provide additional headroom. Individually adjustable seats, extended rear air conditioning and rear-seat entertainment further enhance the modern ambience. Because driving pleasure is not just a front-row experience.

The camera systems in the BMW 7 Series Sedan. Surround View reveals new perspectives. Two front-end cameras are integrated in the front bumper, one on the left and one on the right, to provide an advanced view at crossroads and on narrow roads. The images obtained, transmitted to the Control Display, allow you to identify any oncoming traffic before it can be seen from the driver’s position. Two additional cameras in the wing mirrors monitor the side areas and also generate a bird’s eye view image of the BMW 7 Series Sedan for optimum vision in tight manoeuvres. The Rear View camera also provides welcome support when parking. Interactive lane lines in the image inform the driver whether or not the parking space is large enough.

2013 BMW X1 Drive28i and sDrive20d Series

This is the formula on which the 2013 BMW X1 is based. At first glance it is a compact BMW X model. The second glance comes with the challenge to explore something new. For example, an efficient SUV with BMW driving dynamics. Either with sDrive, with characteristic BMW rear-wheel drive that separates steering from the engine so that every wheel can carry out its own task to perfection. Or as xDrive, with the intelligent all-wheel drive system and optional Performance Control that combines traction and agility.  The powerful straight six-cylinder petrol and four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines work alongside BMW Efficient Dynamics, a package of intelligent measures such as the Auto Start Stop function, the gear shift indicator and Brake Energy Regeneration, to guarantee outstanding efficiency. The maximum five stars awarded in the Euro NCAP crash test unite a clear conscience with a reliable safety.

2013 BMW X1
2013 BMW X1
Diesel engines are still good for surprises. The 2013 BMW X1 features the world‘s first four-cylinder diesel engine with Variable Twin Turbo. Alongside the ultra-lightweight aluminium engine block, two different-sized turbochargers are deployed sequentially to deliver blistering power of up to 150 kW (204 hp) at any speed range. At the same time, fuel consumption is a surprisingly frugal 5.2 litres per 100 kilometres.

The 2012 BMW X1 also boasts BMW’s Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) and Performance Control systems. Arriving at a test track consisting of loose gravel constructed to demonstrate the capabilities of these systems, the BMW X1 engineers described how the systems work in conjunction with each other and then allowed us to try them out firsthand. Having the opportunity to briskly circle the track in various modes allowed me to feel how good the systems really are. Instead of applying abrupt slaps on the wrist like many vehicles, the X1 seamlessly reduces throttle where traction is lacking and even applies braking when needed. No understeer, no oversteer, no funny business.

2013 BMW X1 Review

2013 BMW X1
2013 BMW X1 xDrive28i
2012 BMW X1 it is difficult to argue with a 2.0-liter powerplant producing 295 ft-lbs of torque at 2000 rpm which sure came in handy heading up that mountain road. The sprint to 62 mph happens in a modest 7.3 seconds and turbo lag is all but eliminated. Power delivery is seamless and always there whether you want or need it. When the X1 arrives on our fair shores, it will likely be with the 3.0L in-line six-cylinder gasoline engine that boasts 230 hp and 200 ft-lbs of torque. It is a shame the diesel I drove is unlikely find itself on this side of the Atlantic. It offers the power of a six-cylinder engine with the economy of a four. In fact, highway mileage is an impressive 44 mpg.

The four-cylinder versions xDrive28i and sDrive18i impress thanks to their precise response and efficient fuel consumption. The BMW TwinPower Turbo in the BMW xDrive28i boasts spontaneous power build-up at all revs. Its rapid response converts the driver’s wishes directly into forward thrust. This 180 kW (245 hp) drive unit lets the facts supply the emotions: from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds with a fuel consumption of only 7.9 litres per 100 km. The sDrive18i has a little less spirit but offers an equal amount of driving pleasure. Modern valve technology supplies the motor with the correct quantity of air at all times. The 110 kW (150 hp) engine consumes 8.2 litres over 100 km and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.7 seconds.

The BMW X1 xDrive23d features the world's first four-cylinder diesel engine with Variable Twin Turbo. Two different-sized turbochargers are deployed sequentially to deliver blistering power right across the rev range. At low revs, the small turbocharger works on its own to provide instantaneous throttle response. Third-generation common rail injection in the BMW X1 sDrive18d, BMW X1 xDrive18d, BMW X1 sDrive20d and BMW X1 xDrive20d ensures exceptional performance (up to 130 kW / 177 hp) in hand with unbeatable fuel consumption levels (starting at a frugal 5.2 litres per 100 kilometres). The diesel engines in the BMW X1 meet the EU5 emissions standard.
Only the rev counter will reveal how quickly and comfortably the new 8-speed automatic transmission Steptronic changes gear. The additional gears reduce the rev interval of the engine between shifts making them barely perceptible. At high speeds the eighth gear reduces revs to increase comfort and lower fuel consumption. The system is also supported by the newly developed converter clutch even if you use the electronic gearshift lever or the optional paddle switches on the steering wheel to change manually.

Smooth and responsive, the 6-speed manual transmission in the BMW X1 makes for dynamic driving at its best. Its standout features are the short-throw shifts, perfect ratios and optimum exploitation of torque. The closely spaced gear ratios and the addition of a sixth gear enable the driver to make even more individual use of the engine's characteristics. The optional 6-speed automatic transmission Steptronic delivers smooth driving with exceptional reaction speed, combining instant power when pulling out and reduced fuel consumption at high speeds. Both transmission systems provide maximum dynamic performance in the full speed range and unmatched efficiency for short and long distances alike.

The 2013 BMW X1 sDrive20d Efficient Dynamics Edition

Whether you're at home in the wild or on the city streets, the 2013 BMW X1 sDrive20d Efficient Dynamics Edition is always ready for spontaneous activities with fuel consumption of just 4.5 litres per 100 km. Its powerful 2.0-litre BMW TwinPower Turbo engine will set your pulse racing while, at the same time, keeping fuel consumption and emissions to an absolute minimum. To make all this possible, the BMW EfficientDynamics technology package pulled out all the stops, with modified engine design, electric power steering, improved gear shift indicator and aerodynamically optimised light-alloy rims. Never before have performance and common sense been brought so close together.

The BMW Individual optional equipment is available separately or as BMW Individual composition. If a vehicle doesn't look dynamic how are we supposed to believe that it drives dynamically? You have to be able to both see and feel its character. It's the same with talent: It's not enough just to have it, you have to be able to use it." Adrian van Hooydonk, Head of BMW Group Design. In the interior dynamics and elegance are represented in one flowing movement from the instrument panel to the door. This can instantly be felt. All of the high-quality control elements are ergonomically positioned for a perfect fit as soon as you take a seat."

It is the underpinning concepts that make the difference between a good automobile and an exceptional one. Active drivers know that these concepts deserve appreciation like the ergonomic concept of the 2013 BMW 5 Series Touring. With the position of the centre console rising up slightly towards the driver, all driving functions are positioned on the driver's side while all comfort functions are arranged further towards the middle to give the entire passenger compartment a clear and functional structure.

2013 BMW 5 Series

Every control and display is ideally ergonomically positioned where the driver intuitively expects them to be. Look to the right and your eyes automatically fall on the Control Display. Integrated in the wing mirror on the left is the Lane Change Warning symbol. The Head-Up Display is positioned directly in front of the driver. It projects the most important driving information, for example directions from the navigation system, directly into the driver's field of vision.

2013 BMW 5 Series Touring is a good square metre of sky: the optional panorama glass roof brings a generous amount of light, fascinating views and, if you wish, a lot of fresh air, too, into the BMW 5 Series Touring. The front half of the two-part glass area can be raised or opened completely, like a conventional sun roof. A net wind deflector protects against turbulence and ensures a pleasantly subdued background noise level for the interior.

In bad weather or in winter, the two-part electric sun shield comes into play: invisible when retracted, it extends to provide a light-proof seal for the interior and, thanks to its unique design, thermal insulation at the level of a normal roof protect against the cold. The design of the panorama glass roof is also unique: the curving lines in the front section run parallel to the edge of the roof causing the large glass surface to blend in harmoniously with the contours of the BMW 5 Series, thus emphasizing its athletically elegant appearance.

How can you improve an engine that has already won six times at the Engine of the Year Awards? In the case of the BMW 535i, with TwinPower Turbo, Valvetronic and direct petrol injection for a start. The improvements are evolutionary as each one of the three technologies has been developed further. What is revolutionary however is how they compliment one another. In the engine of the BMW 535i with BMW TwinPower Turbo technology, they are combined in one complete package. The result: 225 kW (306 hp), 400 Nm across a wide speed range and silky smoothness. And all this at a fuel consumption level of just 8.5 l/100 km.

2012 BMW 5 Series
2013 BMW 5 Series Interior
Impressive smoothness and high performance are also what characterise the straight six-cylinder engines in the 2012 BMW 523i and BMW 528i. Alusil cylinders and a magnesium crankcase make place them among the lightest six-cylinder engines in their class, with 150 kW (204 hp) for the BMW 523i, 190 kW (258 hp) for the BMW 528i. An advantage that you not only notice with the driving dynamics but also with the fuel consumption levels of 7.8 l/100 km.

Luxury without waste. Economic performance. With up to 220kW (300 hp), fuel consumption from 5.8 l/100 km the BMW straight six-cylinder diesel engine sets the new standards in excellence for tomorrow, today. For sprints and long-distance: the engine of the BMW 535d incorporating BMW TwinPower Turbo technology with 220 kW (300 hp) and 600 Nm. The dynamic, free-revving and powerful straight six-cylinder races to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds. On the other hand, it uses just 6.3 litres of diesel to cover 100 km.

And in the other models, too, the engines unfold their power dominantly and harmoniously: 180 kW (245 hp) and 540 Nm in the BMW 530d and 150 kW (204 hp) and 450 Nm in the BMW 525d. Three litres capacity and a turbocharger system with variable intake geometry already provide maximum torque as of 1,750 rpm.

Third-generation common rail direct injection uses a pressure of 1,800 bar to disperse the fuel into extremely small drops making combustion smoother and more efficient. So what comes out of this? On the one side a lot: the BMW 530d accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.4 seconds, the BMW 525d in 7.3 seconds. On the other side less thanks to the standard particle filter. Consumption is at a low level of 6.2 l/100 km for the BMW 525d and 6.3 l/100 km for the BMW 530d. If requested, the BMW 530d with BMW BluePerformance can already meet EU6 emission standards which do not come into force until 2014.

Below 140 g/km CO2 – for most estates this is a target for the future. The four-cylinder diesel engine in the BMW 520d undercuts this limit with the same amount of ease as it propels the BMW 5 Series Touring. 380 Nm and 135 kW (184 hp) are power and performance levels most engines never achieve. The engine in the BMW 520d not only achieves these, it does this on just 5.1 litres over 100 kilometres and with just 135 g/km CO2 thanks to the same high-quality technologies used in the straight six-cylinder diesel engines. Frictional losses have been reduced by around 3.5 percent compared with its direct predecessor. A pleasant side effect of the increased levels of efficiency: fuel stops only have to take place every 1,350 kilometres.

One second and 28 metres. This is how long it takes to take your eyes off the road and read 100 km/h on the speedometer. The full-colour Head-Up Display projects your current speed into your direct field of vision on the windscreen. And the BMW ConnectedDrive technology can do even more.High Guiding and Lane Guiding are the names of the functions that make navigating in cities and on unclear road layouts simple. The high-resolution, full-colour display is projected onto the windscreen in the driver's direct field of vision. If required, the Speed Limit Info can show the current speed limit along with the status of active speed restrictions in the area. Warning notices from the assistant systems are also always displayed such as Lane Change and Lane Departure Warning, pedestrian recognition from BMW Night Vision as well as the possibility of running into the back of the vehicle in front.

Simply specify your desired cruising speed and relax: Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go function as well as collision warning with braking function automatically reduces your speed up to a standstill if a slower vehicle appears in the lane ahead. If the vehicle is stationary for less than three seconds, the 2013 BMW 5 Series Touring automatically continues. If the vehicle is stationary for longer, a button must be touched on the steering wheel before the vehicle will pull away and accelerate up to your set cruise speed again. A radar sensor with a range of 200 metres constantly measures the distance between you and the vehicle ahead and recognises which lane the vehicle is in. In critical situations, the optical and acoustic collision warning alerts drivers to the hazard even when Cruise Control is deactivated, and by braking briefly gives them an additional opportunity to avoid the threat of an accident by braking or taking evasive action. The result is to make journeys in the BMW 5 Series Touring, particularly in urban traffic, safer and more comfortable.

2013 BMW M3 Coupe Sports Car

2012 BMW M3 Coupe Sports Car Review

The optimised aerodynamics in the 2013 BMW M3 Coupe ensures that downforce is both cooled and increased at the same time. The left opening near the powerdome channels additional air to the intake air plenum. The M rear apron with diffuser ensures controlled airflow along the car’s underbody. And the M front air dam with integrated air inlets cools the engine. The result? Added downforce for added thrills. With a vehicle as powerful and dynamic as this, styling is never an aim in itself. Form will always be driven by functional considerations. The expressive front is designed to accommodate the V8 high-rev engine. The muscular rear allows for the wider track and four tailpipes. Even the shape of the exterior mirrors adds to the overall aerodynamics. Only the interplay of all these measures ensures the desired effect: sports car performance that is ideally suited to everyday driving.

2013 BMW M3 Coupe
2013 BMW M3 Coupe Review

Combining racing technology with everyday usability, the V8 high-rev engine is full of  2013 BMW M3 Coupe personality. Every component has been carefully optimised to result in this impressive set of figures: maximum output of up to 8,300 rpm, 309 kW (420 hp) and top torque of 400 Nm at 3,900 rpm. And that's not all, individual throttle butterflies, normally only found in race cars, allow for faster response and additional performance benefits - an absolute engineering highlight for a road car engine. The BMW M3 Coupe offers ultra-fast, ultra-precise shifts every time. Its six-speed manual gearbox ensures optimum transmission of engine power throughout the rev range, resulting in smooth acceleration on demand. Even downshifts are a pleasure - especially when followed by a bend. A redesigned, more lightweight, ventilated clutch makes for improved heat dissipation.

Activating the M Dynamic Mode and Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) gives your sports ambitions free rein. Drive slip for both longitudinal and transverse dynamics increases at all speed levels because DSC does not instantly intervene in the automobile's motion. This does not impact on safety, however: it is just a means to increase driving pleasure. Consistent lightweight design for optimum longitudinal and lateral dynamics. This includes high-strength bumpers, the complete front section, the CFRP roof, and the entire drivetrain. And the new V8 engine, too, weighs an amazing 15 kg less than the previous six-cylinder unit. Mass has been placed as close to the centre of gravity as possible, while maintaining the ideal 50/50 front-rear weight distribution. The chassis has also been stiffened to provide increased lightness and stability.

The seats in the 2013 BMW M3 Coupé combine the best in comfort and sportiness. This has been achieved by using a special cushioning material that's exclusive to M Sport seats. Soft leather, an optimised ergonomic design and prominent side bolsters also contribute to the high level of comfort. The electric seat settings for the seat back angle, seat height, and lateral position are saved in the memory function to ensure a glove-like fit in any driving situation. And for additional stability when cornering, the width of the backrest can also be individually adjusted (optional).

2013 BMW M3 Sedan V8 High-rev Engine Review

One look at the 2013 BMW M3 Sedan reveals all: here is a perfect blend of sports car and sedan. That muscular front end with its large air vents and prominent powerdome. The wind tunnel-honed exterior mirrors. The four chromed tailpipes and wider rear track. It's an exterior that promises exhilarating performance - combined with four-door practicality. Fasten your seat belt and get ready for the breathtaking BMW M3 Sedan. Its V8 high-rev engine serves up 420 hp and is mated to a chassis that has mastered the ultimate test: the Nürburgring's legendary Nordschleife. What's more, it continues the BMW M tradition of racing technology for everyday driving, delivering Formula M thrills in four-door, five-seater form. Thanks to intelligent aerodynamics, the 2013 BMW M3 Sedan not only slices effortlessly through the air, but also channels it to where it's needed most. The intake hole next to the powerdome feeds air directly to the V8 high-rev engine. The side vents in the front apron help to cool the engine and transmission oil. And the aerodynamic wing mirrors and rear diffusor both contribute to the car's exhilarating dynamics.

The 2013 BMW M3 Sedan is as special inside as out. Its cockpit has a true sports car feel, but combined with high ergonomic comfort and fine design. From the leather-trimmed M multifunction steering wheel with stitching in M colours to the special M Sport seats or the Titanium Shadow interior trim, every detail reflects the exclusivity and sporting pedigree that define BMW M. A performance car that brings racing technology to the road, yet has ample space for all occupants? That's the BMW M3 Sedan. Its spacious four-door cabin ensures even rear seat passengers can travel in comfort, while the generous 450 litres of luggage space enhances its everyday usability even further. All that practicality doesn't disguise its true nature however - that of a thoroughbred sports car.

2013 BMW M3 Sedan REview

2013 BMW M3 Sedan
2013 BMW M3 Sedan
Power all the way to the redline the 2013 BMW M3 Sedan V8 high-rev engine has genuine race-car character. Every component has been carefully optimised to maximise output and engine speed. The result? 309 kW (420 hp), up to 8,300 rpm, and 400 Nm of torque at 3,900 rpm. And that's not all: the individual throttle butterflies and engine management system ensure the engine responds rapidly to driver inputs, translating every touch of the right pedal into instant acceleration. The BMW M3 Sedan offers ultra-fast, ultra-precise shifts every time. Its 6-speed manual gearbox ensures optimum transmission of engine power throughout the rev range, resulting in smooth acceleration on demand. Even downshifts are a pleasure - especially when followed by a bend. A redesigned, more lightweight, ventilated clutch makes for improved heat dissipation.

Taking your breath away but not your speed, the M DCT Drivelogic double-clutch transmission transfers engine power to the road without the slightest disruption to tractive force. With two transmission structures the system is able to switch simply between the two, thus providing constant power to the rear wheels. Gears can be changed without the transmission of power being interrupted using either the paddles, shift lever or automatic mode for even more dynamic comfort. 0 to 100 km/h takes just 4.7 seconds, two tenths of a second faster than the manual transmission. Innovative lightweight construction improves longitudinal and lateral dynamics. That's why the BMW M3 Sedan has lightweight materials in key areas such as the bumpers and drivetrain. As a result, the new V8 engine weighs 15 kg less than its six-cylinder predecessor. As well as reducing weight, we've lowered the centre of gravity and stiffened the chassis, making for even greater agility and stability.

2013 BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo Revolutionary Review

To travel in style is the idea behind Gran Turismo, and the 2013 BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo  does not disappoint. With its elegant design, luxurious ambience and generous spaciousness for all passengers it is surprisingly versatile providing space for large items of luggage in the separate boot and two-part tailgate. This is in addition to the classic Gran Turismo trait: unrivalled driving comfort. Powerful engines with the latest in BMW Efficient Dynamics technology and the flowing dynamics of a coupé-style roofline come together in one vehicle to create something completely new: the perfect combination of sedan elegance, touring flexibility and the raised seat position of an SUV. There are always many reasons for going on a journey and now there is one more: the BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo. Its spacious interior with its luxurious ambience and high-quality materials evokes a comfortable lounge atmosphere while maximum comfort is ensured by the slightly elevated seat position, individual rear seats and generous head- and legroom at the level of the BMW 7 Series. A journey in the 2013 BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo is never less than first-class travel.

With its generous spaciousness the 2012 BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo flexibly adjusts to meet all of your luggage needs. The low section of the two-part tailgate can be easily accessed to store any purchases acquired along the way while the separate partition wall offers protection from cold, warmth and draft. And if you need more room, simply fold down the rear seat or comfort individual rear seats and open the large tailgate to take advantage of an amazing 1,700 litres of luggage capacity large enough for even the longest of journeys. As distinctive and individual as its driver, the BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo never fails to make a lasting first impression. The elongated bonnet, long wheelbase, coupé-like, descending roofline and distinctive rear all accentuate the car's dynamic flair. Contemporary design features based on classic Gran Turismo tradition.

The eight-cylinder power unit in the 2013 BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo provides highest level power and performance while at the same time reducing both fuel consumption and emissions to an even lower level. The V8 with TwinPower Turbo technology, combined with double-Vanos and High Precision Injection, offers maximum output of 300 kW (407 hp). Peak torque is 600 Nm maintained consistently between 1,750 and 4,500 rpm, and accelerating from a standstill to 100 km/h takes just 5.5 seconds. How do you improve an engine that has already won the Engine of the Year Award several times? With an eye for detail and a new concept: TwinScroll turbocharger with Valvetronic, double-Vanos and High Precision Injection. Each one of these technologies has been further developed and combined for the first time in the BMW TwinPower Turbo to an efficient and dynamic package: 225 kW (306 hp), 400 powerful Newton metres with nearly every rev, silky-smooth running. All this with fuel consumption at just 8.9 l/100 km a new all-time high for this vehicle class.

The rev counter is the only place you'll notice: with the new 8-speed automatic transmission Steptronic the smaller increments from one gear to the next don’t just increase ride and shift comfort in the BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo, they also enable faster gearshifts and more profitable use of the optimum rev range. This reduces fuel consumption and lowers CO2 emissions. The system is supported by the newly developed converter clutch – even if you use the electronic gearshift lever to shift manually. Further information about the official fuel consumption and the official specific CO2 emissions for new passenger automobiles can be found in the "New Passenger Vehicle Fuel Consumption and CO2 Emission Guidelines", which are available free of charge at all sales outlets and from DAT Deutsche Automobil Treuhand GmbH, Hellmuth-Hirth-Str. 1, 73760 Ostfildern, Germany.

2013 BMW 6 Series Convertible Evolution Power Review

I like a stream of water that inexorably carves out its own channel, powerful shapes and flowing contours shape the entire body of the 2013 BMW 6 Series Convertible. Sporting proportions, inspired by the elegance of flowing water. Excitement arises on the surface. At the very first sight, the design of the BMW 6 Series Convertible captures the dynamics of the driving experience. The flat, extended car body and the broad rear add power and character. At the same time generous areas disappear in the flow of lively power lines creating an elegant interplay between light and shade. With the roof open, the waistline surrounds the entire passenger compartment, separating it from the outside and lending the interior an exclusive intimacy. When closed, the distinctly extended fin roof continues the contours of the body and, with its elegant coupé roof line impressively emphasises the exclusive charisma of the BMW 6 Series Convertible. Equally charismatic is the focused look of the bi-xenon headlights. The unmistakeable LED rings of the daytime running lights and the accented trim distinguish the front end. Together with the low position of kidney grille with its slight forward lean and the sweep of the bonnet, it clearly illustrates the focus of the BMW 6 Series Convertible: namely, the road.

Classical elegance that sets standards: the fully automatic roof convincingly impresses with its excellent thermal and acoustic insulation. It gives the 2013 BMW 6 Series Convertible a coupé-like silhouette and, in combination with the drop-down rear window ensures effective ventilation of the interior. Available in three colours, the roof folds into the hood enclosure in the boot at the touch of a button to provide even more fresh air. At speeds of up to 40 km/h it opens in only 19 seconds and closes in 24. The optional wind deflector helps to counteract irritating wind noises at high speeds. Quickly mounted behind the front seats, the deflector noticeably reduces air turbulence inside the vehicle, thus creating a pleasant driving sensation. If the wind deflector is not needed it disappears compactly inside the luggage space. Even with the roof closed, you and your passengers will enjoy a pleasant open-air driving experience in the BMW 6 Series Convertible. In the extravagant “California” mode, all five windows are lowered while the roof remains closed. And so you are protected from the sun, without having to miss out on the sensation of the wind.

The 2013 BMW 6 Series Convertible, long distances become sprints. Just a brief press of the accelerator unleashes the power of the V8 petrol engine. In every corner you sense the close contact with the road; with each acceleration you are captivated by the sonorous sound of the eight cylinders. Make travelling your favourite sport: the V8 engine with petrol direct injection and TwinPower Turbo accelerates with an outstanding 300 kW (407 hp) and a maximum torque of 600 Nm from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.0 seconds. As befits its performance, the V8 petrol engine is thrifty using an average of 10.6 to 10.7 l/100 km with combined CO2 emissions of 248 to 249 g/km. The 8-speed Sport automatic transmission Steptronic keeps the engine in the optimum revving range and shifts almost imperceptibly while offering you supreme travelling comfort. Centrally fitted exhaust turbochargers in the V of the cylinder banks permit an especially compact engine design and hence a low weight. The combination of systematic lightweight chassis construction and optimised aerodynamics produces unique agility, perfect road-holding and absolutely precise handling.

The most dynamic and comfortable way to save: the eight-speed sports automatic transmission Steptronic not only ensures incredibly swift changes and reduces background noise at high speeds, it also significantly reduces fuel consumption. Only the tachometer will reveal how fast and seamlessly the new eight-speed sports automatic transmission Steptronic changes gear. The additional gears are finely graduated so that the change from third to fourth gear, for example, takes place with small rev intervals and the transmission process itself is barely perceptible. At the same time, the engine is always held at the performance level at which it can optimally utilise its strength. For more dynamics, more comfort and more efficiency. At higher speeds the engine revs drop due to the eight gear, thus decreasing fuel consumption, which is further reduced in the BMW 640i thanks to the automatic transmission with Auto Start Stop function. The engine switches of when the car stops and starts up again while your foot is leaving the brake pedal.

Self assured power build-up, silky smooth, cultivated performance: the strengths of the BMW straight six-cylinder are legendary. With each new generation, BMW has continued to refine the engine while at the same increasing its dynamics and efficiency. The BMW 640i  represents another highlight in this success story. 235 kW (320 hp) and 450 newton metres, only 7.8 to 7.9 l/100 km, 181 to 185 g CO2/km and acceleration of 0 to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds. Revolutionary technologies and innovative fine tuning interact to complement and stimulate each other in the BMW TwinPower Turbo of the BMW 640i. TwinScroll turbocharger and Valvetronic bring a breath of fresh air into the combustion chamber, where petrol direct injection generates clouds of a precisely adjusted petrol-air mixture within milliseconds while the double-Vanos optimally adapt the engine performance across the speed range. The result is maximum efficiency particularly when full power is not required, maximum power over a broad band of revs and a direct response at all times.

2012 BMW 6 Series Coupe New Engine Performance

The 2012 BMW 6 Series Coupe comes very close to this ideal. Water is the inspiration: elegant, soft flowing lines merge into pure dynamics. Harmonious shapes tell of pulsating power. Extended and elegant, with a perfectly designed coupé roof line, the new BMW 6 Series Coupe appears both athletic and emotional. The distinct styling, the long wheelbase and the squat front complement each other with flowing shapes. The bonnet arches powerfully over the front axle and then swoops downwards towards the BMW kidney grille. The coupé roof line encloses the passenger compartment and leads in one elegant curve to the broad, muscular rear. A pledge of controlled power waiting for you to redeem. The optional Adaptive Drive or Dynamic Damping Control offers the additional COMFORT+ Mode. It ensures a particularly comfortable ride and effectively compensates for any unevenness of the road surface. If you prefer a swift and active driving style, SPORT mode integrated as a standard feature is your setting of choice: the accelerator responds spontaneously, the steering reacts very directly and the 8-speed sports automatic transmission Steptronic shifts up at higher revs. And in SPORT+ mode use of the DSC function is additionally limited.

2013 BMW Z4 Roadster Excotice Concept

The first 2013 BMW Roadster  with a hardtop. Its sophisticated design means the characteristic low-slung appearance remains unaltered even with the top down. This is possible thanks to the optimal folding of the two aluminium roof shells in 22 seconds. With the top closed, the roof line of the roadster adopts a coupé style silhouette, and the generous side and rear windows ensure captivating panorama views. Whether you choose to drive with the roof open or closed, it's never a question of style but always of the moment. You’re approaching the end of the curve and the road stretches out in front of you: a gentle nudge of the accelerator is enough to get the 2013 BMW Roadster dashing straight down it.
