The versatile and sporty Toyota Matrix, which received a significant refresh for 2011, moves into 2012 continuing with two model grades and two powertrain offerings and available all-wheel drive. Toyota Motor Sales (TMS), U.S.A., Inc. (TMS) debuted today the second-generation Toyota RAV4 EV at a news conference at the Los Angeles Auto Show. A total of 35 vehicles will be built for a demonstration and evaluation program through 2011, aiming at market arrival of a fully-engineered vehicle in 2012. The fully-engineered vehicle will have a target range of 100 miles in actual road driving patterns, in a wide range of climates and conditions. The RAV4 features a lithium metal oxide battery which has an energy storage capacity "in the mid-30 kwh range." The company declined to release detailed information, but the Tesla-sourced electric motor (presumably the 215 kW one from the Roadster) will enable the crossover to travel up to 100 miles (161 km) on a single charge. Furthermore, Toyota stated the EV weighs 220 pounds (100 kg) more than the RAV4 V6 and will accelerate from 0-60 mph almost as fast. Red More

Peugeots have always been renowned for their good handling and the Peugeot 308 is no exception. It's good to drive and rides well, while the big boot and top quality interior give it the edge over rivals. There's plenty of safety equipment in the Peugeot 308 and its high-class interior makes it feel like a more expensive car. The diesel engines are strong and at speed the Peugeot is very refined, so it's a great motorway companion. The 308 is let down by the fact that it's very similar to the Peugeot 307 that preceded it, so it's cabhin seems a little old fashioned and doesn't feel like an up-to-date car. Meanwhile, the Peugeot 308 SW has a better interior, but this car's trump card is its huge amount of space inside. The 308 SW is also available with an extra pair of seats in the back, which makes it massively practical and attractive if you have a large family.
