They say practice makes perfect. And considering the millions of Toyota Corollas we’ve sold since introducing it way back in 1968, it’s fair to say that we’ve had a lot of practice. It’s no mystery: The 2012 Toyota Corolla  offers the ideal blend of comfort, value and safety. In it, you’ll find a surprising number of high-end features. It offers remarkable performance and fuel efficiency, plus an impressive list of standard safety features. Factor in its legendary reliability, and it’s clear that Corolla is the smart choice.

With its sophisticated styling and thoughtful layout, Corolla’s interior begs to be admired. You’ll be quick to point out its comfortable and well-crafted seats with their unique sport fabric. You’ll take pride in its many upscale amenities, like the available moonroof, the spacious interior or the available Display Audio system with Navigation1 and Entune. The truth is, the 2012 Corolla has so much to offer, it’d be a shame to keep it all under wraps. When you’re at the wheel of Corolla, things always seem to be lookingbup. Take the available moonroof, for example. It offers you an uplifting view of not just the moon, but also the sun, the stars and the glimmering city. Convenience is keyless. Toyota Corolla lets you lock and unlock its doors with the touch of a button. And once you open the door, a warmly lit interior welcomes you inside. The remote can also be used to pop open the trunk. Even the alarm can be activated remotely. With Corolla, every excursion is a power trip. For 2012, all Toyota Corolla models offer power windows, power door locks and power outside mirrors as standard equipment.

You’ve always been one to keep up with technology. But then you’ve also been one to keep tabs on your finances. So it’s no surprise, really, that you’re interested in Corolla. From available hands-free technologies that help keep your attention on the road ahead, to device ports that accommodate most popular digital music players, Corolla’s loaded with the features you want, as well as the value you need. After all, who says high tech has to be high cost?

Corolla’s available display Audio with Navigation and Entune includes 6.1-in. touch-screen, AM/FM CD player with MP3/WMA playback capability, six speakers, SiriusXM Satellite Radio capability (includes three-month trial subscription to XM Select Package), HD Radio with iTunes Tagging, auxiliary audio jack, USB port with iPod connectivity and control, and hands-free phone capability, phone book access, advanced voice recognition and music streaming via Bluetooth wireless technology. AM/FM CD player with MP3/WMA playback capability, six speakers, auxiliary audio jack, USB port with iPod connectivity, auto sound leveling, and hands-free phone capability and phone book access via Bluetooth wireless technology.

The available Entune system is a collection of popular mobile applications and data services integrated with select Toyota vehicles. Entune includes three years of complimentary access to apps and services delivered via most smartphones and some feature phones. (After three years, access charges will apply; excluding Pandora.) Once the phone is connected to the vehicle using Bluetooth wireless technology or a USB cable, the features of Entune are operated using the vehicle’s controls or, for some services, by voice recognition. Entune is scheduled to have mobile apps for Bing, iHeartRadio, MovieTickets.com, OpenTable and Pandora. The data services of Entune include fuel guide, sports scores, stocks, traffic and weather.

Toyota Corolla
offers a variety of storage possibilities, like an available overhead console with sunglasses storage. A huge dual glove compartment features a large bin for general storage of items like a camera. Above is a separate enclosure that keeps important documents close at hand. Corolla may be a compact car, but you wouldn’t know it to peek into the trunk. There, you’ll be pleasantly surprised to find a full 12.3 cubic feet of cargo space1 for road trip necessities. In back, Corolla offers remarkable versatility. The 60/40 split rear seat folds down to reveal a pass-through to the trunk, increasing the amount of useful rear cargo space.

The 2012 Corolla is powered by an aluminum-alloy 1.8-liter 4-cylinder 16-valve engine. Incorporating lightweight pistons and a cooling water jacket spacer surrounding the cylinder walls, the design allows the engine to be lighter and more compact. Yet the engine still produces a spirited 132 hp and 128 lb.-ft. of torque. Its efficient operation comes courtesy of Dual Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i). VVTi automatically adjusts valve timing across the engine’s full range of operation to maintain maximum power and achieve an EPA estimated 27 city/34 highway mpg rating. With a 16-valve Double Overhead Cam (DOHC) engine that employs Dual Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i), Corolla offers grin-affixing acceleration. Yet it’s this same technology that also helps it achieve its great mpg rating. Add to that innovations like Electric Power Steering (EPS) to lessen Corolla’s engine load and an Electronic Throttle Control System (ETCS) to lend it precise acceleration, and it becomes clear that Corolla knows how to handle itself.

It’s standard equipment. Every Corolla is built with our advanced integration of safety technologies, including Enhanced Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), Traction Control (TRAC), Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA) and Smart Stop Technology (SST). Armed with these active safety features, Corolla can actually help you avoid accidents in the first place. It’s not every car that provides this level of safety. Just every Toyota. To help compensate for a loss of traction while cornering and help prevent sideways slipping, Corolla utilizes Enhanced VSC. The system adjusts engine power, braking and steering torque-assist control to help the vehicle follow the direction in which it is being steered. To help maintain traction on wet, icy, loose or uneven surfaces, TRAC applies brake force to the spinning wheel. To help prevent the brakes from locking up, ABS pulses brake pressure to each wheel, helping you stay in control in emergency braking situations.

To help keep the rear wheels from locking up during sudden braking situations, EBD redistributes brake force. During emergency stops, BA is designed to detect sudden or “panic” braking, then add the brake pressure needed to help prevent a collision. At speeds greater than five miles per hour, when the accelerator is depressed first and the brakes are then applied firmly for longer than one-half second, SST is designed to help the driver bring the vehicle to a complete stop. Front and rear energy-absorbing crumple zones and a collapsible steering column are designed to help dissipate impact forces in a collision and help protect occupants. Toyota Corolla comes standard with active headrests in the front seats that adjust to better support the front occupants’ heads in the event of certain lower-speed, rearend collisions.
